E-commerce Marketing Managers spearhead the strategies that make online transactions possible. They are responsible for organizing and developing website marketing plans. An ideal e-commerce manager is an organized, creative, pragmatic and analytical person with strong technical skills. They can multitask effectively and be able to problem-solve when needed.

E-commerce Platforms Management

A few years ago, I had the opportunity to manage and organize product listings across various e-commerce markets outside of the current website for the Gercutter US company. With an extensive catalogue of products, I always ensured that their product data had been always centralized, structured, and organized. I was responsible for managing e-commerce inventories, seller central pages, content performances, product advertising designs with images/illustrations, listings, and their e-stores on different platforms.

Some skills and tasks that I handled as an e-commerce platform manager were:

  • UPCs (Universal Product Codes)

  • ASINs (Amazon Standard Identification Numbers)

  • SKUs (Stock Keeping Units)

  • Brand/manufacturer names

  • Product listings

  • Product title/name

  • Product descriptions

  • Product images/illustrations/graphic support

  • Product variations/options listings in bulk

  • Inventory feed/management

  • Category and sub-category for product catalogues

  • SEO Metadata - description, keywords, titles

Lastly, if you’re thinking about being a full-time e-commerce platform manager, you have to consider having most of these abilities in your background to develop all the tasks that your clients need from you. Remember that you'll provide a complete set of services for marketplace management, while your clients can focus better on core business activities.
